Brent, London
PocketsSt Raphaels (Brentfield Road · Gibbons Recreation Ground · River Brent · east · Brent River Park · Brent Canal Feeder)Stonebridge (Gibbons Recreation Ground · Hillside · Brentfield · Harlesden · Brent Canal Feeder · Twyford Abbey Road)
Stonebridge lies in the south-west corner of Brent, wedged between the North Circular, the River Brent and the Harrow Road. The whole ward sits inside a conservation area, a legacy of the 1870s Stonebridge Park commuter suburb laid out for City workers. The three listed buildings include the Grade II Brent Viaduct, built in 1838 by Robert Stephenson for the London and Birmingham Railway, and the Grade II Stonebridge Park Public House, one of the last survivors of the original Victorian estate. Thirteen Ofsted outstanding rated schools fall within range, Bakerloo and Overground services at Stonebridge Park give reasonable central-London access, and Brent River Park and the Welsh Harp beyond provide around twenty-five hectares of green. The drawbacks are heavy and well-known: crime sits in the bottom third of London wards, air quality is poor with the North Circular and Hanger Lane one ward over, and the ward's market pricing reflects a long history of housing-estate renewal rather than a strong private market.
