Data

Data sources

WAYB is built from public UK datasets plus map/geocoding services. This page explains what powers the product; the Credits page carries exact licence attribution wording.

How we use data

  • Only public or properly licensed data — every source is credited and links back to the original.
  • We talk in ward and borough names you'll recognise, not internal statistical codes.
  • We're upfront about how fresh each layer is and where the data has limits.
  • Our scoring is kept separate from the raw source data, so you can always check the original yourself.

How often it updates

Our pipeline checks for new data every week and re-computes scores whenever a source changes. Each dataset keeps its own release schedule: police crime figures and Land Registry sale prices refresh monthly; transport, planning and venue data update through the year; census, school inspections and similar change less often. Where a layer rests on slower-moving data, its score moves slowly too — so treat scores as a considered picture of an area, not a live feed.
