Hendon is an old Middlesex parish at the top of Barnet, built around Church End and the ridgeline above the Silk Stream. The thirty-four listed buildings include the Grade II* Parish Church of St Mary, a twelfth-century foundation with a Norman font still in use, and the Grade II* Church Farmhouse, one of the oldest surviving dwellings in the borough, dating from around 1660. Green space is generous by inner-London standards — Sunnyhill Park and the wider fringe total roughly fifty-three hectares — and ten Ofsted outstanding rated schools fall within a short journey. The high street around Brent Street and the Burroughs carries a reasonable food offer and the cultural footprint is anchored by Middlesex University's Hendon campus. Transport is moderate: the Northern line runs at Hendon Central and Thameslink at Hendon, but both are slower than the Zone 2 alternatives further south.
