Greenwich, London
Greenwich Creekside sits at the Thames meeting point of the Ravensbourne and the river, covering the western half of central Greenwich from Deptford Creek round to the foot of Greenwich Park. The character is the densest heritage collection in south-east London. The whole ward sits inside a conservation area, and a hundred and two listed buildings include the Grade I Cutty Sark, the Grade I Church of St Alfege (Hawksmoor's only completed church here) and the Grade I National Maritime Museum. Connectivity is good via the DLR at Cutty Sark and the Greenwich Pier riverboat; over one hundred and ninety food and two hundred and thirty non-food venues reflect the market and tourist volume. The downsides are real for residents. Green space inside the ward is thin at three hectares — Greenwich Park lies just outside the boundary — crime figures are pushed up by tourist theft and the pub economy around the market, and only three Ofsted-outstanding schools are within reach.
