Fairfield is central Croydon, the Whitgift area around the town hall, East Croydon station and the Fairfield Halls. The forty listed buildings include three Grade I elements of the Old Palace Croydon — the Chapel, Great Hall and Western Range — which together form the best-surviving medieval palace of the Archbishops of Canterbury, favoured by archbishops as a summer residence from the thirteenth century.
