Feltham West sits at the western edge of Hounslow, either side of the Feltham–Staines rail line and running up towards Bedfont Lakes. The character is post-war suburban with surviving pre-suburban fabric and an unusually broad green fringe. Eight listed buildings include the Grade II* Church of St Dunstan, The Old Vicarage and the Grade II chest tomb in the churchyard. Bedfont Lakes South Side, at over twenty hectares, anchors a total green cover of almost sixty-seven hectares. Eighteen outstanding schools lie within reach, the housing market is among the more affordable in the batch, and safety improves markedly away from the station area. The drawbacks: public transport is weak, with Feltham station on the Reading line but no tube; safety readings are below the London average in the town centre; air quality is middling thanks to the A30 and Heathrow approaches; and culture is thin, with the nearest cinema and theatre offering in central Hounslow.
