Eltham Page covers the northern part of Eltham around Well Hall, where the Tudor manor of Thomas More's daughter Margaret Roper and her husband William once stood, and where the garden-suburb Progress Estate was thrown up for Woolwich Arsenal workers in 1915. The whole ward lies in a conservation area, the Well Hall Pleasaunce park holds the surviving Tudor moat and brick Tudor Barn, and three listed buildings all carry Grade II* status. Air quality is very good by south-east London standards, green space runs to nearly 16 hectares, and eight outstanding schools sit within reach. The downsides are structural: public-transport access is only moderate, relying on Eltham and Mottingham stations rather than any Tube; cultural and nightlife provision is minimal, with just 13 open food venues in the whole ward; and the safety score is a little below average for the borough.
