Camden, London
Regent's Park ward wraps the southern and eastern terraces of the royal park itself, the most architecturally composed Georgian set-piece in London. The area was laid out by John Nash from 1811 for the Prince Regent, with Cumberland Terrace completed in 1826 and Decimus Burton taking over most of the later work. There are 136 listed buildings, including Grade I numbers 1–8 and 9–10 St Andrews Place, and the Grade I Royal College of Physicians. The Regent's Park itself, at over twenty-five hectares within the ward, anchors a wider green belt of more than thirty-one hectares. Public transport is very good, with Regent's Park, Great Portland Street and Baker Street all in reach, and the food and non-food scene along Marylebone and Euston Road is dense. Twenty-six outstanding schools lie within reach. The drawbacks: safety figures sit below the London average because of footfall-related theft around stations; air quality is poor, thanks to Marylebone Road and Euston Road; and the market score reflects prices that few can meet.
