Golders Green is a north-west Barnet ward centred on the crossroads and Tube terminus of the same name, with the ward stretching up into Hampstead Garden Suburb territory. The character is established suburban-Edwardian, shaped by a long-standing Jewish community and a visibly international high street. Heritage runs deep for an outer ward: eighty-five listed buildings, including the Grade II* terraces at 1-2 and 3-18 South Square in Hampstead Garden Suburb, and the Grade II Red Lodge. Thirteen outstanding schools are within reach, the Hampstead Heath Extension forms the ward's green anchor, and the food scene at seventy-two venues is strong. The weak points are planning and pollution. Development consents are tight here and the pollution score is low, reflecting proximity to the Finchley Road and North Circular corridors.
