Parsloes lies at the heart of the Becontree estate in Barking and Dagenham, named after the medieval Passelewe family whose manor once sat here. The ward is shaped by interwar cottage streets running off Becontree Avenue and Parsloes Avenue, with Parsloes Park the green anchor in the centre. Schools are a strength — nine Ofsted outstanding rated schools fall within comfortable walking range — and the air is notably clean for east London, reflecting the low-density layout. Buses are frequent and Becontree and Upney Underground stations are close, but the rail offer is a single District line branch rather than anything with depth.
