Camden, London
Kentish Town North sits on the rising ground between Camden and Highgate, a Victorian-built ward with a distinct music-venue footprint along Highgate Road and Kentish Town Road. The twenty-four listed buildings are headed by the Grade II Forum, a 1934 Italian Renaissance super-cinema by J. Stanley Beard and W. R. Bennett that has been a live-music venue since 1985, along with the Grade II Fitzroy Terrace. Transport is very good: Kentish Town on the Northern line and Thameslink, plus frequent buses, push most of the centre within fifteen minutes. Twenty-six Ofsted outstanding rated schools fall within reach, and the food and retail offer is dense — eighty-eight food venues and ninety-two non-food outlets — with a long daytime and nighttime rhythm. The honest downsides are crime and air quality. Crime sits below the London median, pulled down by nightlife-related theft on the main strip, and air quality is poor along the A400 spine. Green space is almost absent; residents cross to Hampstead Heath or Parliament Hill.
