Battersea Park ward covers the north-east corner of Wandsworth between the river and Queenstown Road, a ward anchored on one side by the 200-acre park itself. Around sixty-two per cent of the ward sits inside a conservation area. The twenty-three listed buildings include the Grade II* War Memorial of the 24th Division, the Grade II* Single Form memorial by Barbara Hepworth on the south side of the boating lake, and the Grade II* Albert Bridge with its tollbooths and lamp standards. Battersea Park itself, laid out by Sir James Pennethorne between 1846 and 1864 on the former Battersea Fields, opened in 1858. Twenty-eight Ofsted outstanding rated schools fall within reach.
