PocketsFinsbury Park West (Rainbow Theatre, former cinema · Fonthill Road · north-west · Hornsey Road)Gillespie RoadHolloway Nag's HeadTollington
Finsbury Park ward wraps the park's southern and eastern edges and the station itself, one of London's busiest interchanges. The ward is entirely within a conservation area, with Stroud Green's Victorian terraces and the old Seven Sisters Road corridor running through it. Six listed buildings include the Grade II* Rainbow Theatre — built in 1930 as the Finsbury Park Astoria, a lavish Spanish Moorish atmospheric cinema, which hosted its first concert as the Rainbow on 4 November 1971 with The Who — alongside Grade II 147 Hornsey Road and the terrace at 3–5 Thane Villas. Public transport is very good via Finsbury Park on the Piccadilly and Victoria lines and the Great Northern mainline, and the food and drink scene along Stroud Green Road is one of the densest in the batch. Twenty outstanding schools lie within reach. The drawbacks: safety readings are well below the London average, driven by station footfall; air quality is among the worst in the batch thanks to Seven Sisters Road; and green cover within the ward itself is very thin, with most residents walking to Finsbury Park next door.
