Bromley Common and Holwood sits on the southern edge of Bromley, a suburban ward wrapped around wooded commons and the historic Holwood estate in Keston. The common itself was around 300 acres of waste land in the early 19th century, a well-known haunt of highwaymen before the arrival of the railway in 1858 transformed the area. Holwood House was William Pitt the Younger's country retreat from 1785, and the park was landscaped on advice from Humphry Repton. The ward has 12 listed buildings including the Grade II Oakley House, around 96.3 hectares of green space with Knowlehill Wood at the core, and safety and air-quality scores that sit well above the London median.
