Crook Log sits in Welling and Bexleyheath, on the southern edge of the A2 and within walking distance of Danson Park. The ward is 1930s suburban at the core, with a strong set of pre-suburban anchors surviving in the landscape. Listed buildings include three at Grade I: Red House, the William Morris and Philip Webb Arts and Crafts house of 1859–60 and the only house commissioned by Morris; Danson House, the Palladian villa built in 1766 by Sir Robert Taylor for Sir John Boyd; and the well head to the south-east of Red House. Danson Park, at just over thirty-seven hectares, is the largest open space in the area. Safety readings are strong, twenty-one outstanding schools lie within reach, and air quality is reasonable. The drawbacks: public transport is only moderate, with no tube and bus-plus-Bexleyheath-rail required for most central-London trips; the planning pipeline is essentially nil; and food and culture options are thin away from Bexleyheath Broadway.
